It says 'Offline' and theres an eye icon at the bottom right corner. Sliders are greyed out, I cant rate or color tag them. However, once I disconnect my external hard drive, I cant edit any of the photos at all. _ Windows MVP 2010-20 Millions helped via my tutorials and personally in forums for 12 years. Im importing photos into a Catalog from an external hard drive, and the previews say theyve been generated. Then try wiping the drive to reformat in Disk Mgmt: external g-drive warns read only / time machine says the same thing / running on iMac / someone told me they think that it thinks it’s windows and is confused / something maybe needs changed in permissions / i’m a novice / any help will be greatly appreciated / thanks / Patrick i tried to attach some of the warnings but i don’t think they took here is a read out of the drive. If the problem doesn't exist in another PC then first thing back up your files to a folder on the desktop. See if the problem is present in another PC as it's most often caused by a corrupted User account solved by creating a new Admin User account to move into and replace it. Click on the Add button > add a new user name > click OK. A dialogue box will appear as Permissions for a new volume (E :). Choose Properties from the contextual menu.
